Desert Switchblade Destroyer

This is my 2021 Pivot Switchblade in that sweet Desert Tan—what Pivot called Mojave back then, this dusty, sun-bleached tan that just disappears into the Arizona rocks and washes around New River like it was made for these trails. Man, I still get stoked every time I pull it out of the garage; it's stealthy, clean, and mean without screaming for attention.
I went full factory Pro X01 build—no skimping, all the top-shelf SRAM and Fox goodies straight from Pivot. The full hollow core carbon frame is light and stiff, with that magic DW-link suspension dishing out 142mm rear travel that pedals like a dream on those long, grinding climbs up in the high country, but then opens up and devours chunk on the way back down. Paired with 160mm up front, it's the ultimate do-it-all 29er—playful enough to manual and pop, burly enough to charge tech and hit jumps without flinching.
Suspension is pure Fox Factory bliss: the 36 Factory GRIP2 fork up front soaks up rocks and roots with crazy plushness and adjustability—I can dial it for flowy stuff or go firmer for the gnar. Out back, the Fox Factory DPX2 (custom-tuned with Pivot) is supportive in the mid-stroke, poppy off the top, and never harsh on big hits. It's that perfect balance where the bike feels alive and glued to the trail.
Drivetrain is SRAM X01 Eagle 12-speed—crisp shifts, huge range for spinning up anything steep, and that chain stays quiet even in the dust. Brakes are the SRAM Code RSC 4-piston setup; plenty of power and killer modulation to scrub speed from mach chicken without drama. Factory wheels (DT Swiss laced hoops) roll fast and stay true, wrapped in grippy rubber that hooks up in loose-over-hard Sonoran dirt like glue.
Five years in and this thing still rips harder than most new bikes. It's light enough for all-day epics, rowdy enough for shuttle laps or bike-park sessions, and the handling just puts a permanent grin on my face—efficient climber, descending beast, playful trail toy all in one. Sitting here in New River, waxed up, freshly tuned, and ready for whatever dusty loop or rocky descent I point it at next. This Desert Tan Switchblade is my one-bike quiver, and honestly, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Let's peddle bro. 🚀
